The following people are not suitable for Pilates: patients with severe cardiovascular diseases, patients in the acute stage of joint or spinal diseases, pregnant women (especially in the early and late stages), people in the postoperative recovery period, patients with severe osteoporosis and those who are overly fatigued.
People who are not suitable for Pilates mainly include the following categories:
Patients with severe cardiovascular diseases
Such as patients with coronary heart disease and uncontrolled hypertension, Pilates movements may cause blood pressure fluctuations or increase the burden on the heart.
Patients with acute joint or spinal diseases
Joint diseases: patients with rheumatoid arthritis and severe osteoarthritis, movements may aggravate inflammation or pain.
Spinal problems: patients with acute lumbar disc herniation, scoliosis, etc., movements may compress nerves or aggravate injuries.
Pregnant women (especially in the early and late stages of pregnancy)
Abdominal compression movements may affect the fetus, and professional guidance is required and high-risk movements should be avoided.
People who have not healed after surgery or fractures
Practicing before the wound heals may affect recovery, and a doctor's evaluation is required.
Patients with severe osteoporosis
Bone fragility increases the risk of fractures, and high-intensity movements should be avoided.
People who are overly tired or sleep deprived may be prone to deformed movements or injuries due to decreased control ability.
Precautions:
The above-mentioned groups are not absolutely contraindicated, and they need to adjust their exercise plans under the evaluation of a doctor and the guidance of a professional coach.
It is recommended to choose alternative exercises (such as water training, walking) to adapt to the physical condition.
